 Entertainment..
" The minstrel now who tun'd his Gothic lyre
To teach the son the achievements of the sire,"
... While you in another one of our rooms, the tables and your band or disco will be setting up in your Reception Room ready for the evening entertainment to begin. When the room is ready the Master of Ceremonies will call you and your guests through. The evening guests should be arriving at this time from between 7.30pm and 8.15pm, when there will be more meeting and greeting.
Wedding Entertainment
This is a detail that sometimes gets overlooked, your wedding entertainment comprises around a third of your day and is the last thing that your guests will remember, so it is important to choose wisely. Your DJ or Band or both should have many years performing or gigging experience, together with testimonials to show you and typical play lists to hand. They should be helpful if you require suggestions as to which first dance to choose. Some bands will offer to learn your special song such as Subway, alternatives like to play it over their PA, like Flowerstation or Suede Alien. Whether you choose your own Band or DJ or go with The Crown Coaching Inn's suggestions, your evening should run smoothly and follow a set order....
The First Dance
The band leader or DJ will inform you that you need to ready yourselves for the first dance around ten minutes before and take over from the Master of Ceremonies from here on in on matters of announcement etc. Your first dance can be a tune that is special to you both and that is slowish in tempo, after all you don't want to be racing around the dance floor as all eyes will be on you for another photo opportunity.
The Bride and the Groom should always be the first to take the floor at the wedding reception.
It is traditional for the father of the Bride to get the next dance with his daughter and as such the
Groom should ask the Bride's mother to join him. The Groom's parents are the next on the list, with the Best Man then dancing with the Bride. The entire Bridal party is invited onto the dance floor soon after the Bride and Groom have had their first dance. There will then follow around 45 minutes of dancing, it is a good idea that you brief your bridesmaids and ushers to keep people up on the dance floor to keep the party atmosphere going. Your band or DJ will be asked to announce the Buffet.
