The Courtyard..." Nature bids her subjects range,
All creation's full of change. See the varying hours display Morning, Evening, Night, and Day, " ...This picture is the view from the Market Square under the Coachway into the original 16th Century Cobbled Courtyard. It is a great space for eating or dining 'al fresco' during the summer months on fine days, or to simply sit and sip and chat with friends. The Courtyard also features some stocks, this is where the miscreants and minor offenders used to be historically put for punishment. Another of the Courtyard's great historical architectural features is an original outside Elizabethan Staircase, called the Judges stairs. In the centre of the Courtyard is a fountain, this used to be working however just recently has been turned into a planter and is a riot of colour. Around two sides of the Courtyard there is a covered walkway and all around the Courtyard there are hanging baskets, these are beautiful during the summer months.
Please Note - There is a no smoking policy in operation at the Old Crown Coaching Inn, the Courtyard has a designated spot for smokers who wish to do so. |
